Happy Monday, Thieves! We’re back from Miami this week and talking to some familiar folks. We’ve got Andy Crouch joining us to talk about the recent revamp of of All About Beer, a storied publication that’s been around longer than Sierra Nevada. Andy’s partner in the venture is none other than our very own John Holl. As you may recall, Holl was the editor of AAB for several years, back when this show originated. We talk to Andy & John about their hopes for the revamped brand and what kinds of stories they hope to bring to life with their new venture. Kennedy was very kind in the black glass this week, offering up a couple of warm weather crushers to keep things nice and civil. Tune in and let us know what you think!

Episode 363 - Agostino Arioli, Birrificio Italiano

Happy Monday, Thieves! We’re talking with Agostino Arioli of Italy’s Birrificio Italiano today. If you’ve been listening to the show for the last few years, you’ll know we’re all big fans of the so-called Italian Pils. Agostino happens to be the inventor of that style (not Kennedy, despite what Augie often claims!) so it we thought it would be fun to have him on the show given our international Zooming capabilities. Tune in and let us know what you think!

Episode 362 - The Gang Catches Up

Episode 362 - The Gang Catches Up

Happy Monday, Thieves! The four of us spent yesterday morning catching up for this episode of STB. It had been a while since we’d gotten together sans guest, and it was fun to catch up with what everyone’s been up to. John and Casse talk about going back out in the world, Augie tells us about his favorite new hop blend, and Kennedy cracks open a thoroughly old school IPA brewed with…. coriander?! (You’ll never guess what brewery it’s from. Or maybe you will.) It was a fun, laid back show and we enjoyed recording it. Tune in and let us know what you think!

Episode 360 - Matt Moon, Another Moon Brewing

Happy Monday, Thieves! We're talking to Matt Moon today who just launched his new project, Another Moon Brewing, a couple of weeks ago. Like many of his peers in the Hudson Valley, Matt specializes in a single style of beer, namely saison packaged in 750ml bottles. It's a thoughtful discussion enhanced with a couple of treats in the black glass. Tune in here and let us know what you think!

Happy Monday, Thieves! We’re chatting with Jennifer Newman this week, the CEO and co-owner of Young Lion Brewing outside Rochester, NY. Jenn’s not on the brewing side of things so we talk about more of the business aspects of brewing rather than malt bills and hop schedules. It’s a great conversation nonetheless and we have a little bit of fun with some old favorites in the black glass, to boot. Tune in here and let us know what you think!

Kai was such a familiar voice that we felt instantly familiar with him and had a great rapport as we navigated beer and economics and much, much more. Tune in here and let us know what you think!

Episode 354 - Heather McReynolds, Hopsteiner

Happy Monday, Thieves! We're talking to our friend Heather McReynolds today, currently of Hopsteiner and previously of Guinness and Sixpoint. We've known Heather for a while and have a great discussion about hops (duh) and other more esoteric topics, like Augie and grape jelly and the old Sixpoint brewhouse in Red Hook. If you listen long enough, you'll hear us talk about Meatloaf, Evan Watson, and Weber Grill's apology letter this past week. Justin had some real fun picking he beers this week and things go nearly off the rails as a result. We hope you tune in and let us know what you think!

Episode 353 - Alex Zolli, Brooklyn Publican/Beer Witch

Episode 353 - Alex Zolli, Brooklyn Publican/Beer Witch

Happy Monday, Thieves! One of our favorite Brooklyn publicans and bartenders, Alex Zolli, is joining us this week to talk about the state of the craft beer bar scene. As we know, craft beer bars have slowly been on the decline over the last several years, due in large part to the changing ways people consume beer. (More at brewery taprooms lately than at craft beer pubs is the current thinking.) We talk to Alex about why craft beer bars are still important and what publicans and owners can do to compete with taprooms. It’s a good chat and we have some fun in the black glasses, too. Episode 352 - Hutch Kugeman, the Brewery at CIA

Happy Monday, Thieves! We have a great guest this week - our friend Hutch from the Brewery at the Culinary Institute of America. Hutch was supposed to be on the show way back in 2020 but we ended up canceling the in-person shows right before he was scheduled and then never got him on in the Zoom studios. That changes this week as we sit down to talk about the brewing education program at CIA. It’s a fun, educational show and we really enjoyed having him on. Tune in and let us know what you think!
